Legend<\/em><\/strong> has it,<\/em> as the story goes<\/em><\/strong>,<\/em> that the Liberty Bell cracked because it was rung so long when independence<\/em> was declared on July 4th, 1776<\/em>.\u00a0 Today, historians highly doubt that the Bell<\/em><\/strong> actually rang in 1776 because the steeple which housed it in the tower of Independence Hall was in really bad condition.\u00a0 The legend, however, remains to this day!\u00a0 Although no one knows exactly when the Bell<\/em> cracked for the first time, it is agreed that the final ringing of the Bell<\/em> was on George Washington’s<\/em><\/strong> Birthday in 1846 when it cracked beyond repair.<\/p>\n
