Cheryl Hornung, a US citizen now residing in Marburg, Germany, has launched a new international website company in two languages. Heckery Dekkery Dot Travel Game Postcards for Children presents the NEWest in travel postcards. Geared especially to children, but suitable for all ages, travel gamecard postcards are meant to be fun and educational. The new website currently highlights eighteen international sites, including New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Norfolk, Charleston, Washington, D. C., Paris, Rome, Florence, Venice, Berlin, Munich, Marburg, where the owner now resides, and the owner’s hometown of Lewistown, PA, along with matching travel postcards for each city or region.
The creator of Heckery Dekkery Dot Travel Game Postcards for Children, a grandmother of three, says that it was not always easy to find travel postcards geared to children that had anything to do with any famous site. Therefore, on a second trip to Goteborg, Sweden, which is also featured on the site, she decided to start making her own, and the idea for this new brand of travel game, “If u were here,” was born. The website is dedicated to her grandchildren. She is hoping that they will learn MUCH about the world around them.
It is not necessary to have travel plans to play this game, however. It’s just a fun way to learn about new places. And, by linking the postcard to the new website, it’s “virtually” more than you can say on the back of the card. Visitors to the site can also upload their own photos for a personalized touch. The new travel game enables all players to learn more about the world around them, but it is first and foremost a children’s learning game in which children not only become acquainted with other parts of the world, but also gain respect for other cultures in a fun and easygoing, carefree manner. It is Heckery Dekkery Dot’s goal to help children learn about the city featured on the travel gamecard postcard and the people who live there by providing them with an educational as well as a fun website. Children will also be encouraged to exchange ideas with online pen pals under the guidance of a parent or other responsible adult caregiver.
